I discovered a passion exercise and training in 2004 and was immediately fascinated by how the body works and how it can adapt and improve given certain stimuli. I became a regular runner and after a couple of years struggling with technique, I eventually discovered the Chi Running method after reading the book by Danny Dreyer. I found that my running efficiency greatly improved and that the niggles that were constantly holding me back where becoming less of an issue. In May 2010 I attended a workshop with Danny Dreyer, founder of Chi Running. This encouraged me to train to become one of only a handful of Certified Chi Running Instructors in the UK.
In 2012 I qualified as a Personal Trainer and Chi Running and Chi Walking Instructor. During the Chi Running certification process I assisted Master instructors Marion Meesters in Amsterdam and Catherina McKiernan (winner of Berlin, London and Amsterdam marathons and Irish marathon record holder) in Dublin.
In 2013, realising the importance of exercise not only for fitness but for health and general well-being, I decided to study for a Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral and a Level 4 Certificate in Specialist Exericse (Exercise for the Management of Lower Back Pain). In October I returned to Berlin to assist Marion Meesters in training and assessing Chi Running Instructor Candidates from all over Europe.
In 2014 I was appointed Master Instructor and Director of Chi Running UK & Ireland and I am now responsible for the managment and develpoment of Chi Running across this region.
In 2016 I trained as an Oxygen Advantage Instructor, and became the first UK certified instructor teaching a programme of breathing exercises that help to maximize oxygen carrying capacity and delivery for aerobic and anaerobic improvement.
I train clients on a 1-2-1 and also hold regular Chi Running and Oxygen Advantage workshops in London, across the UK and Europe. I also train new instructors in the Chi Running and Oxygen Advantage methods.
For my continued professional development I see a Personal Trainer weekly and keep updated on current health, fitness and training developments. My current training includes regular running, resistance strength and power, core stability, posture and flexibility. I focus on kettlebell and ViPR training as both are great whole body workouts and compliment my approach to running training. I also train barefoot and in minimalist shoes for both my running and resistance work. I believe this promotes better posture, proprioception and balance, helping develop stronger core muscles and natural movement.
I have run marathons, half marathons, numerous 10ks and my first venture into ultras was the Royal Parks Ultra Marathon in October 2014.
